After a season with Cirkus Altenburg in Sweden, Paulina Rivel married Albert Schumann on November 28, 1946 in Stockholm. The wedding banquet was held in the Spanish Room at Stockholm’s Grand Hôtel. At the end of the table (far left) are the producer Gustav Wally, his financial manager Constance Janowski, and Charlie Rivel, Jr.
On the near side (from the left) is the company manager of Stockholm’s China Varieté, Bengt Sterner; the second, partly hidden person on his right is Juanito Rivel; looking at the camera are architect Henning A. N. Orlando (nephew of the Swedish circus director of the same name) and Cecilie Schumann, Albert’s sister; to her right are Rune Zetterlund, marketing manager for Cirkus Schumann in Sweden and Valentino Rivel.
On the far side of the table are (from left to right) Adele Orlando (née Schumann and wife of Erland Orlando); Einar Nordahl, financial advisor to the Schumann family; Wardia Schumann (Albert’s mother, née Beketov); Charlie Rivel, father of the bride; Paulina; Albert; Carmen Andreu i Busto (Charlie Rivel’s wife and Paulina’s mother), Oscar Schumann (Albert’s father) and Brita Rivel (Juanito’s wife who, sadly, would die in childbirth).
