File:Medrano by Zaika.jpg
From Circopedia
Au Rendez-vous des Artistes, oil on canvas by Elena Zaïka, featuring the Cirque Medrano during the "Belle Éopoque." Although the painting is more interpretative than realistic, the café did actually exist. The painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec can be seen at the terrace, along with the legendary "cancaneuse" La Goulue. The clowns pictured in medalions are (from left to right) Annie Fratellini, Pierre Étaix, Buster Keaton, Grock, and Achille Zavatta. Pierre Étaix and Annie Fratellini actually never worked as clowns at Cirque Medrano—although Annie Fratellini did appear in the ring when she was young as an acrobat and as a musical eccentric.
